What is CyberLeek?

CyberLeek became known for GTA 6 leaks and set up a website where users could buy cryptocurrency for voting rights on which leaked video would be released next. The group went quiet after a series of leaks. This week, a site using the name was updated, and gaming outlets reported it may be teasing more leaks.

CyberLeek timeline: what happened and when

Here is how the leaks unfolded, based on reporting from Dexerto, Forbes and other gaming outlets. None of the footage has been confirmed by Rockstar.

DateWhat happened
Aug. 18, 2026A new wave of GTA 6 clips appears, showing driving, basketball and street fights
Late August 2026More clips leak; Forbes reports Take-Two is filing DMCA takedowns
Aug.–Sept. 2026Outlets report the leaker cashed out roughly $250,000 tied to a meme coin
Oct. 5, 2026A mystery poll appears on the CyberLeek site, set to close Oct. 8
Oct. 8, 2026An “Extended Leek” file of about 370MB, with roughly 25 minutes of footage, is posted
Oct. 12, 2026The leaker reportedly threatens to post a playable build if the coin hits a target value
Oct. 14, 2026CyberLeek reportedly says it is stopping “for now” and takes its site offline
Nov. 19, 2026Official GTA 6 release date

The money figures come from gaming outlets tracking public crypto wallets. They have not been confirmed by police or a court. No one has been publicly named or charged.

Why the “voting coin” setup is a red flag

CyberLeek promoted a cryptocurrency alongside its leaks. Fans were told that holding the token gave them a say in what got posted next.

That kind of setup has a common pattern. Early buyers and the creator can profit when hype pushes the price up. Later buyers are often left holding a coin that crashes once the hype ends.

The FTC says Americans reported losing $15.9 billion to fraud in 2025. Investment scams were the biggest category, at $7.9 billion. Many of those involved crypto.

Crypto payments are usually hard or impossible to reverse. Once you send it, it’s gone.

A made-up example

This is a made-up example to show how these schemes work. A 17-year-old fan sees a “GTA 6 demo – $100” offer on a site named after CyberLeek. He pays with a gift card and downloads a “launcher.” Nothing playable shows up. A week later, his Discord and Steam accounts are taken over, because the launcher stole saved passwords from his browser.

That’s why the safest move is simple: no payments, no downloads.

If you already paid or downloaded something

  1. Disconnect and scan. Run a full scan with Windows Security or another trusted antivirus program.
  2. Uninstall the “launcher.” Remove anything you installed from a leak site.
  3. Change your passwords. Start with email, then gaming accounts (PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Rockstar Social Club), then banking. Use a clean device if you can.
  4. Turn on two-step verification for every account that offers it.
  5. Call your bank or card company if you paid by card. Ask about a chargeback.
  6. Contact the gift card company right away if you paid with a gift card. Keep the receipt.
  7. Report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and to the FBI at ic3.gov.

Console only at launch“PC version” or “mobile APK” before launch

Rockstar has announced the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It has not announced a PC launch date. Any “PC download” right now is fake.

What Rockstar and Take-Two have said

Rockstar has kept the Nov. 19, 2026 release date in place despite the leaks. The studio said of earlier leaks that this was “not how we intended” for fans to see the game, the BBC reported.

Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, has used copyright takedowns. Dexerto reported that it also issued subpoenas to several platforms to identify the leaker. Court filings described the investigation as “rapidly evolving.”

How to report a fake CyberLeek site

You can help get copycat sites taken down, even if you didn’t lose money.

  • Google: Report the page at Google Safe Browsing so Chrome warns other users.
  • Microsoft: Report it through Microsoft’s unsafe-site form so Edge flags it.
  • Social media: Use the “report” button on any post or ad pushing the site.
  • FTC: File a report at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. The FTC shares reports with law enforcement.

Don’t visit the site again to “check” it. Just report the address.

Tips for parents

  • Talk with kids about “free” or “early” game offers. They are a top bait for malware.
  • Set up purchase approval on PlayStation and Xbox family accounts.
  • Remove saved card numbers from shared browsers.
  • Remind teens never to pay with gift cards. Real stores don’t ask for that.
