Desperate
In the glittering world of Bhojpuri cinema, where fame and adulation reign supreme, a voice long unheard has now been raised in anguish. Jyoti Singh, the second wife of actor-singer-turned-politician Pawan Singh, has taken to social media with a message so raw and revealing it cuts through the glam facade—her calls and messages have gone unanswered, and she fears she has been utterly abandoned.
A wife’s plea in public view
In a candid Instagram post posted August 31, 2025, Jyoti shared a poignant photo of the moment when Pawan placed vermilion on her forehead—a traditional symbol of marriage and mutual commitment. Yet the image snapped in the past now feels like a relic of a promise broken. She revealed she has been trying to talk to him “for several months now… about personal as well as political matters,” but neither he nor those around him have responded.
What hurts her more is not the lack of response, but the erosion of her identity and dignity. “What great sin have I committed that I am being given such a big punishment? My parents’ honour is being played with,” she wrote, questioning if her devotion had somehow earned her disqualification from the man she married.
An attempted reunion turned denial
She recounted how she traveled to Lucknow during Chhath Puja—a time of cultural and spiritual significance—to meet him, hoping for even a brief embrace, but was turned away. She also tried sending messages through intermediaries, including her father, but all efforts yielded no response.
This silence has pushed her to the brink. “Today, you have given me no other choice than to self-immolate,” she confided. However, she revealed that even that drastic step would not solve anything—for such an act would divert scrutiny to her and her parents, rather than prompting the dialogue she desperately seeks.
Seven years of silent suffering
Their union began in 2018, after Pawan’s tragic first marriage ended with his first wife’s death in 2015. But even after seven years, Jyoti feels invisible—her voice drowned by Pawan’s star power and the controversies surrounding his life. She wrote, “I have fulfilled my duty as a devoted wife by walking step by step with you—now it is your turn to fulfill your duty.” The irony of watching him embrace political rivals or embrace others while she remains unheard only deepens the wound
She writes not out of fury, but pure human longing: “I am your family—yet it hurts me when you embrace those who once criticised you, while my own appeals fall on deaf ears.” Her message ends with a plea that echoes through the screen: “I have been struggling for seven years, and now I am beginning to hate my own life. Just once, please talk to me, reply to my calls and messages, try to understand my pain at least once.”
The broader context and public reaction
Jyoti’s public letter comes amid a broader controversy. A video recently went viral showing Pawan Singh inappropriately touching actress Anjali Raghav during a public event, prompting Anjali to quit the Bhojpuri industry. Pawan has publicly apologized, calling any discomfort unintended, and Anjali responded by acknowledging his apology and calling him a “senior artist.”
Against this backdrop of public scrutiny, Jyoti’s letter pierces the façade, reminding us that beneath tabloid headlines lie relationships hemorrhaging in silence—and behind every celebrity’s spotlight is a life that may be quietly unraveling.
A plea for humanity, not pity
This isn’t a call for pity. It’s a plea for empathy. In a world where loyalty is often overshadowed by ambition, fame, and power, Jyoti asks a simple question: If not as a wife, at least see me as a human. And for now, that seems like more than she has ever been granted.
