Onion kulcha is a Indian flatbread that goes well with chole, dal makhani, or any curry. This onion kulcha recipe is simple, stuffed with spicy onions, and great for anytime.
The kulchas are packed with flavourful onion filling and cooked on a tawa, in the microwave, or in a tandoor. If you have been craving restaurant-style kulcha, try this at home.
Ingredients:5 cups Maida/wheat flour For the Stuffing: 3 onions chopped 2 Tbsp green chillies 2 Tbsp coriander leaves 1 tsp mint leaves 2 tsp ginger-chopped 1 tsp carom seeds (ajwain) 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp coarsely ground pomegranate seeds Salt to taste
Step-1 Make a slightly firm dough using flour and water. Once done, let the dough rest for about an hour.
Step-2 Divide the dough into four even portions and shape them into balls using a bit of dry flour.
To Stuffing Step-1 Mix the chopped onions, green chillies, coriander, mint leaves, spices, and carom seeds in a bowl.
Step-2 Take each dough ball and gently stuff a spoonful of the onion mixture right into the centre.
Step-3 Carefully fold the dough around the filling and pinch the edges together to seal it well.
Step-4 Use a rolling pin to flatten each stuffed dough ball into a round kulcha shape.
Step-5 Place the rolled kulchas on a plate and grill them in the microwave for 10 minutes on each side.
