Apple retires tone many iPhones

Apple has officially retired many iPhone models, marking them as obsolete.

According to Apple's policy, products are deemed obsolete once they've been discontinued from sale for over seven years.

This means these devices will no longer receive software updates, rendering them vulnerable to security risks and missing out on new features.

Additionally, Apple and its authorised service providers will not offer repairs or services for these products, as they can't even order parts for them.

This policy extends to all hardware, though Mac laptops may get an extended battery- only repair period for up to 10 years, subject to parts availability.

The list of obsolete iPhones includes early models such as the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and several iterations of the iPhone 4.

Even slightly newer models like the iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, and some versions of the iPhone 6 series including iPhone 6 Plus have also been retired.

This move is part of Apple's strategy to encourage users to upgrade to newer models that offer enhanced performance, security, and support.

For users still holding onto these older devices, it's a signal that it might be time to consider an upgrade to maintain optimal functionality and security.
